Comox Valley RCMP have released details on three recent investigations that resulted in significant seizures of controlled drugs and substances, cash, and weapons.

On June 25, officers conducted a traffic stop in Courtenay involving two occupants from Surrey with no apparent connection to the Comox Valley.

During the investigation, officers observed indicators consistent with drug trafficking and arrested both individuals.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of cash, a prohibited weapon, and more than one kilogram of suspected illicit drugs apparently packaged for distribution, including what is believed to be fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine.

On June 28, officers again identified indicators of drug trafficking during a separate traffic stop in Courtenay.

The sole occupant, also a resident of Surrey with no apparent local ties, was arrested without incident.

Police found cash and more than one kilogram of drugs packaged for distribution, including fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine.

On July 3, a month-long investigation into alleged drug trafficking culminated with the arrest of one male and the execution of search warrants at a property on the 300-block of Back Road in Courtenay.

Officers seized drugs, cash, imitation firearms, and other items consistent with drug trafficking activity.

Police say the appropriate criminal charges have been, or will be, recommended for all of these investigations.

They note this is the second recent seizure involving replica firearms that closely resemble real weapons, which present a significant public safety concern for both officers and the community, as they are often indistinguishable from real firearms.

Inspector Scott Mercer says the safety of the community remains their highest priority.

It’s expected the busts will disrupt local drug trafficking operations and reduce the flow of dangerous substances into the Comox Valley.

Comox Valley RCMP encourage anyone with information about drug trafficking or suspicious activity in their community to contact police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
