Campbell River's Royal Canadian Legion Branch 137 is marking a major milestone this week with a three-day celebration recognizing its 100th anniversary.
The festivities begin Friday, July 17th at 11:30 a.m. with an opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for three new maple leaf crosswalks in front of Spirit Square.
The ceremony will be followed by a luncheon and commemorative pin presentation at the Legion Hall.
The celebration continues Saturday evening with a 100th Anniversary Dance from 8 until 11 p.m.
Music will be provided by P Nut Gallery, and tickets are available through the Legion for $20 each.
The weekend wraps up Sunday from 1 until 3 p.m. with a free family-friendly afternoon featuring face painting, balloon art, puppet theatre, Child Find photos and passports, crafts, games, hot dogs, beverages and treats.
The Legion lounge will remain open during its regular hours from noon until 7 p.m. throughout the anniversary weekend.
