Thanksgiving Closures Planned Across Campbell River And Comox Valley This Weekend

Friday, October 9, 2026 at 8:55 AM

By Ken Landers

There will be municipal, recreational, school and other facility closures this Thanksgiving long weekend.

Anyone planning to visit a government office, recreation facility, school or library on Monday should check its Thanksgiving schedule before leaving home.

Municipal and regional-district administrative offices throughout Campbell River and the Comox Valley will generally be closed for the statutory holiday.

In Courtenay, City Hall, Operational Services, the fire hall, Lewis Centre, Florence Filberg Centre and LINC Youth Centre will be closed. Emergency fire and public-works services will remain available.

The Campbell River Sportsplex, Comox Community Centre and Cumberland Recreation Centre will also be closed for regular programming.

Pools operated by the Comox Valley RD will be unavailable Monday, while Strathcona Gardens will operate with limited holiday hours from 1:30 until 4:30 p.m.

The former pool facilities at Strathcona Gardens remain closed as staff continue preparing the new Aquatic Centre for its public opening.

Schools throughout the Campbell River and Comox Valley districts will also be closed, along with Vancouver Island Regional Library branches.

One exception to Monday’s closures is advance voting in Comox. Eligible voters can cast their local-election ballots at the Comox Community Centre from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., despite the facility being closed for its regular programming.
