Getting to the polls will be free for transit riders in Campbell River and the Comox Valley on general local election day.
BC Transit says fares will be waived on conventional buses throughout both transit systems on Saturday, October 17.
The fare-free service will also apply to handyDART trips in Campbell River and the Comox Valley.
The initiative is intended to make voting more accessible as residents elect mayors, councillors, school trustees and regional district representatives.
The decision to offer free transit was made by BC Transit’s participating local government partners.
Passengers should confirm their voting location and check the regular Saturday transit schedule before leaving home, as buses will continue operating according to their usual weekend routes and times.
General voting places will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Route, schedule and service information is available at BC Transit.
