Drivers using the Old Island Highway south of Courtenay should be prepared for minor delays today as crews conduct subsurface investigations.

Work will take place along Island Highway South, also known as Highway 19A, between Royston Road and the Trent River Bridge from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The work will affect the Royston and Kilmarnock areas.

Space limitations may require single-lane alternating traffic at some locations, with traffic-control personnel stationed throughout the work zone.

Crews will be conducting investigations in the gravel shoulder as part of the Comox Valley RD’s Sewer Extension South Project.

No impacts to the paved road surface are anticipated.

The investigations will resume next Tuesday, October 13, and continue through Friday, October 16, with work again scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Motorists are being asked to slow down, drive carefully and follow all directions from traffic-control personnel.

More information about the project is available at Engage Comox Valley.
