Lots of cash raised over the weekend for a local group that promotes the well-being and safety of animals in Campbell River.
CR Paws - Campbell River Partners for Animal Welfare Society - held a bottle and catfood drive over the weekend at the Campbell River Curling Club parking lot.
Through bottle returns, market tables, a BBQ and donations, they were able to raise more than 83-hundred dollars to care for feral & abandoned cats.
Launched in 2014, CRPAWS officially became a registered Canadian charity in 2016. They are run entirely by local volunteers. While the group says it remains committed to caring for the feral and community cat population, their scope has expanded. They also assist in locating lost animals, advocate for animal welfare, foster and socialize kittens and cats, manage barn cat placements and when funding allows offer a cat Spay/Neuter Program for people with Limited Incomes.
