Transit Worker and Operator Appreciation Day is happening on March 18th across BC.
The Comox Valley Regional District is teaming up with BC Transit to ensure transit workers feel celebrated.
Mike Zbarsky, CVRD’s Manager of Transit and Facilities, says there have been a lot of changes to the transit system this past year and they want transit workers to know how grateful they are for their dedication.
Changes this year include:
- adding a new connection, twice daily, at Deep Bay to the Nanaimo Regional Transit Service
- adding the UMO card and scanner as a new fare payment option onboard the buses
There have also been several route changes as a result of work on the Sewer Conveyance Project.
On Friday the CVRD will host a booth at the Downtown Courtenay transit exchange, on Cliffe Avenue at 4th Street, from 7am to 10am to promote the upcoming celebration of transit workers.
