The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society is preparing to welcome donors, sponsors, supporters and community partners to an open house at its Women’s Drop-In Centre.
The gathering will take place October 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Centre on 12th Avenue.
Invited guests will have an opportunity to tour the space, meet the team and learn more about its programs and services.
The event will begin with Lily West offering a prayer song, drumming and a few words.
The Women’s Centre has been part of Campbell River for decades and predates the Transition Society itself.
The Centre helped give rise to the Society, which was established in 1985.
The Transition Society assumed responsibility for administering the Centre’s programs in 2019.
Today, the Centre serves approximately 450 women each month.
Its services include drop-in and crisis support, advocacy and referrals, along with access to clothing, hygiene products, snacks, showers, phones and computers.
The Transition Society says the open house is an opportunity to recognize the work taking place at the Centre and the community members who help make its services possible.
