The Town of Comox has launched the Snow Angels program ahead of this winter.
The pilot program will pair good-hearted neighbours with seniors and residents with disabilities who need assistance clearing snow and ice from their sidewalks.
Comox Mayor Nicole Minions says with snow falling earlier, they want to support the community in assisting others who find it challenging or are unable to clear their sidewalks.
She says Comox residents have always been quick to help out their neighbours and this program formalizes a process in matching shovelers with those in need.
The Town says staff recognize that the number of residents requiring assistance in the first year of the program may surpass the number of Snow Angels who sign up.
For those interested in applying to be a Snow Angel or those needing assistance with the clearing of their sidewalks, the Town’s website outlines the eligibility criteria, information packages, frequently asked questions, and sign-up forms. Learn more at Town of Comox Snow Angels.
