Talon Helicopters will be performing low level flying to inspect the area's high-pressure natural gas lines, along with LaSen Inc., a U-S company equipped to detect leaks quickly.
The aim is to detect small issues so they can prevent larger problems and make sure its system continues to operate safely.
Approved by Special Authorization from Transport Canada, low-level flights begin today (July 11, 2022) and run through the end of August, during daylight hours.
The work is FortisBC’s annual inspection of its high-pressure natural gas lines.
Flights will pass through 23 regional districts in BC, so its expected the flight time over a single area will be minimal.
There will be no activity on the ground related to the flight work.
