The Comox Valley will be marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with a Spirit Walk later this month.
The walk is set for Tuesday, September 30th, and begins at 10 a.m. at Harmston Park. From there, participants will make their way down 5th Street and end at Lewis Park.
Organizers say the walk is a chance for the community to come together, to honour the spirits of ancestors, to reflect on the legacy of residential schools, and to support ongoing reconciliation.
People are encouraged to wear orange shirts, ribbon skirts, moccasins, or to carry a feather as symbols of recognition and remembrance.
September 30th has become an important day across the country - a time to remember the children who never came home, to stand with survivors, and to acknowledge the lasting impacts felt in Indigenous communities.
Everyone in the Valley is welcome to take part in the walk, whether as individuals, families, or groups.
