The Comox Valley Regional District has released new information about the sewage leak in Comox Harbour, including reports outlining what caused the incident and how similar events will be prevented in the future.
A report from the CVRD has now been presented to the Comox Valley Sewage Commission.
An Environmental Spill Investigation report prepared by the project's design builder has also been completed, providing additional details on the cause of the leak and the corrective actions being taken.
Meanwhile, weekly water quality and sediment testing continues at sites around the harbour.
The CVRD says Goose Spit, Little Mexico, Gartley Beach, the Courtenay River, Lewis Park, Point Holmes, Tree Island, and the west side of the Comox Harbour Wharf remain safe for recreational use.
However, a water quality advisory remains in effect for the foreshore between Jane Place and the Comox Wharf, as well as the water within the Comox Harbour Authority east marina.
The CVRD says test results and investigation reports will continue to be posted as they become available.
