People on North Vancouver Island are being urged to stay vigilant and prepared as another round of heavy rain moves through the region.
Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting intensified rainfall over the next several days, with rivers and ground conditions already saturated from recent storms.
While this system is expected to be less severe than last week’s weather, officials say the risk of localized flooding, high streamflows, and potential landslides remains elevated.
Vancouver Island is currently under a high streamflow advisory, meaning rivers and creeks may rise quickly, creating dangerous conditions near riverbanks and low-lying areas.
The River Forecast Centre says fast-moving water, unstable banks, and minor flooding are all possible as rain continues.
Emergency officials are also reminding people to be prepared in case conditions change quickly.
Drivers are being urged to check road conditions before heading out, as highway closures are possible if weather worsens.
