The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal is urging both sides to negotiate further on a 40-billion-dollar settlement agreement on First Nations child-welfare.

The agreement was first reached in January between the federal government and First Nations - and the tribunal says it hasn’t met all of its orders.

Originally, the settlement had awarded 40-thousand dollars to each child and their families who suffered, but the tribunal has issues with exactly which children will receive the full amount.

Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief Cindy Woodhouse says the process has been going on long enough - and that it’s time for children and families to get what they are owed.
