The Comox Valley Regional District is working with the City of Courtenay and the Village of Cumberland to launch the new Home Energy Navigator program.
“The Residential and Emissions Reduction Action Plan shows us that oil and gas heated homes contribute a significant amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the Comox Valley, and by electrifying your heating source, emissions would be reduced,” said Alana Mullaly, General Manager of Planning and Development Services.
“The new Home Energy Navigator program will provide residents, when they are needing to replace their current systems, a centralized place to help understand the process for electrifying their home and the financial assistance to help make them make the switch.”
It’s a recommended action from the Residential and Emissions Reduction Action Plan adopted by the Board in October 2023 to help look at ways to reduce residential greenhouse gas emissions in the Comox Valley.
The program will also assist residents who are looking to increase the efficiency of their current system through building envelope upgrades. If you live within one of the CVRD’s Electoral Areas, the City of Courtenay, or Village of Cumberland, you will be able to access the Home Energy Navigator service free of charge on a first come first serve basis.
