The province has reached a settlement with Telus Health, which was accused of charging for health services already covered under the provincial medical services plan.
“We are pleased with the collaborative efforts between the Medical Services Commission and Telus Health to reach a settlement that upholds the principles of the Medicare Protection Act,” said Dr. Robert Halpenny, chair of the Medical Services Commission.
“Telus’s commitment to amending its LifePlus program helps maintain the integrity of public health care in British Columbia.”
BC had claimed that the Telus Health LifePlus program included thousands worth of fees that could lead people to believe they would get preferential medical access and treatment by paying for a membership.
The Medical Services Commission filed the lawsuit in December.
