The City of Campbell River and Harbour Air are preparing for the arrival and departure of the first scheduled Harbour Air flight connecting Downtown Vancouver and Campbell River on Monday.
The inaugural flight marks the launch of scheduled seaplane service between Downtown Vancouver and the Campbell River Water drome at Tyee Spit.
The City says the new service strengthens connectivity, enhances access for residents, businesses and visitors, and represents another step in building an even stronger and more diverse aviation sector in Campbell River.
A cultural welcome by a Wei Wai Kum First Nation Elder will be followed by remarks and a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning ahead of the first flight landing at 11:25 a.m.
Harbour Air says the new Campbell River route serves as a gateway to some of British Columbia's most celebrated wilderness, drawing national and international travellers for salmon fishing, backcountry adventures and whale watching.
One-way fares start at $139.
