Campbell River has an interim City Manager.
Elle Brovold, Director of Community Planning and Livability, has been appointed and accepted the position of Acting City Manager, effective December 16.
Brovold started her career in local government in 2006. In 2014 she joined the City of Campbell River as the Property Manager before moving into the Legislative Services Manager/Corporate Officer position in 2018.
Brovold says she’s been part of the community, and the Campbell River team, for years, adding, “It’s a privilege to take on the new role and help guide the City through the changes that a new council brings. I look forward to connecting with residents, staff and partners as we move into 2023.”
The process to fill the City Manager role permanently is underway, after Deborah Sargent announced her retirement last month.
Sargent’s last day as City Manager is Thursday, following an impressive 35-year career in local government.
As City Manager, Sargent played an instrumental role in establishing the Municipal and Regional District Hotel Tax, revitalizing Campbell River’s approach to tourism and integrating the economic development office into the City.
