Courtenay residents have a week to provide feedback on the City’s strategic plan.

The City says council has identified numerous key projects and initiatives as the focus of their four-year term. The draft Courtenay Strategic Priorities 2023-2026 translates the vision of Courtenay’s Official Community Plan (OCP) into specific commitments, ensuring the City is delivering the services and programs that residents want and expect.

To provide feedback, email info@courtenay.ca by Wednesday May 10, 2023 at 1 p.m. The strategic priorities will be considered by Council at the May 10, 2023 Council Meeting.

The City says the priorities are structured around climate action, reconciliation, equity, and community well-being.

“This will be a foundational document for the City and our Council that will shape the course of the next four years, building on the new Official Community Plan adopted in 2022 as well as several other guiding documents,” said Courtenay Mayor Bob Wells.

“Our goal was to build on this vision and assign these numerous priorities for our Council and staff to focus on. We are really proud to share this draft document with the community.”

Categories include streets and transportation; buildings and landscape; affordable housing; natural environment; parks and recreation; municipal and social infrastructure; arts, culture, and heritage; food systems; local economy; good governance; public safety; financial sustainability; and organizational well-being and sustainability.
