Tuesday’s federal budget includes a $40-billion deficit - something not sitting well with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre.
He says his party will not be supporting it - noting the federal government is planning on spending more to service debt than on health care. The Bloc Quebecois has also said it won’t support it.
NDP leader Jagmeet Singh says he’s undecided.
Singh is taking credit for free birth control for 9 million Canadians and diabetes medication for 3.7 million Canadians, a national program providing free meals at school, and protection for renters from losing their affordable homes to speculators.
As well Singh says funding to create a Red Dress Alert, to address the legacy of residential schools and to fight against residential school denialism are also things the NDP called for.
