A unique landscaping project in the Comox Valley is getting international attention.
The Town of Comox says its crevice gardens at Marina Park have been featured in Fine Gardening magazine, highlighting both their design and resilience in dry conditions.
Crevice gardens are built using vertically placed flat stones, with plants tucked into the narrow gaps between them.
The setup encourages roots to grow deeper, making the plants more tolerant to drought.
Town staff say the gardens along the marina walkway have become a standout feature, offering year-round interest with a mix of blooms and textures.
The project has also drawn praise for how well it performs in increasingly dry spring and summer conditions in the region.
In a post on Facebook, the town credits in-house expert Dany, who has led workshops and presentations on the technique, for helping bring the gardens to life.
Officials say the recognition showcases both innovative landscaping and practical approaches to adapting to changing weather patterns.
