Participants of the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk will be hitting the streets of Campbell River and the Comox Valley later this month.

The Coldest Night of the Year is a national walk - raising funds for various charities aimed at fighting homelessness on February 25th.

The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society are hosting the walk in Campbell River, while the Comox Valley and Dawn to Dawn will host the event in the Comox Valley.

The organizations provide services to women and their children who have been impacted by barriers such as domestic violence, and have a goal of raising $50,000.

In Campbell River, those walking will gather at Rose Harbour before setting out at 515pm, to walk at the same time as thousands of others in over 140 cities and towns across Canada.

Walkers who can’t make the event are encouraged to take part in the virtual option and fundraise and walk wherever they can throughout the month of February.

In the Valley, funds raised will support the Comox Valley Transition Society and Dawn to Dawn Action on Homelessness Society and they're near $50,000 of a $200,000 goal.

They'll set off from the Native Sons Hall in Courtenay.

To register for either event, visit Coldest Night Of The Year.
