Cumberland Parks and Recreation is moving ahead with a proposal submitted by a group of four local residents to approve the installation of climbing boulders in the Village.
The group was tasked to raise 100% of the project funds; following Council’s approval in principle.
Council supported the project with a $2000 Community Grant program, and the project became fully funded this past summer.
Installation of the boulders, valued at nearly $53 thousand, is set for early 2025 at No. 6 Mine Park.
The addition is likely to create expanded opportunities for recreation programming while prioritizing free community usage.
