The City of Courtenay is inviting residents to take part in a new public survey to help guide the development of its Accessibility Plan.
The survey will be available from December 8, 2025 to January 16, 2026 on the City’s Accessibility page.
The plan will identify, remove, and prevent barriers that make it difficult for people to access municipal programs, services, information, and facilities.
The work builds on the Comox Valley Local Governments Accessibility Framework, created in 2023 through a regional partnership involving the City, the Town of Comox, the Village of Cumberland, the CVRD, and the Comox Valley Accessibility Committee.
Residents completing the survey can share experiences with a range of barriers - including physical, attitudinal, communication, technological, and systemic barriers - across key areas such as transportation, employment, service delivery, housing, the built environment, and information access.
A year-round public feedback tool is already available on the City’s Accessibility page, and the new survey will act as a deeper opportunity for residents to contribute to the plan.
The Accessibility Plan will be published in late spring 2026, with updates required at least every three years.
