Lots of things are going on in the region this weekend as Christmas draws nearer.

In Campbell River, the BIA Big Truck Parade kicks off "Deck the Downtown" weekend tonight. That will be followed by live music in Spirit Square, lots of entertainment, food and an opportunity to support your local retailers downtown.

Events take place from 5pm to 8pm.

Tomorrow, downtown shops and services will be offering specials and promotions, a Christmas Market in Spirit Square.

Live music will fill Downtown restaurants, and the Festival of Trees is happening at the Campbell River Museum.

Sunday will feature a pancake breakfast at the Eagle's Hall, the Global Fair-Trade Market at the Community Centre Downtown and the Festival Brass: Merry Mischief show at the Tidemark Theatre.

Those who donate a new toy at 50th Parallel Property Management will receive a free ticket to the pancake breakfast.

In Cumberland, the Villagers Tree Light Up is happening tonight from 6pm to 7pm at Village Square.

The Christmas lights are being lit tomorrow night at Comox Air Force Museum’s Heritage Air Park.

Members of 19 Wing Comox have decorated the historic aircraft in festive lights once again.

The Air Park, located on Military Row, will be open from starting tomorrow and running through December 30th, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, (except Christmas eve and Christmas day).

Admission is by donation of non-perishable food items for the Comox Valley Food Bank or a cash donation for the Museum fund.

If you’re riding the bus in the Comox Valley today, watch out for the Transit Elf, delivering goodies to passengers on this Transit Rider Appreciation Day.

The Transit Elf will be visiting various exchanges and hopping onto buses to hand out treats and gifts. There’s no set schedule, just keep your eye out.
