The Town of Comox and the Comox Fire Protection District are reminding residents and visitors that, despite recent changes to provincial campfire restrictions in some areas, campfires remain prohibited within the Town of Comox and *Electoral Area B (Comox Fire Protection District).

Within the Town of Comox, all open burning and campfires are prohibited year-round under municipal regulations.

This permanent prohibition remains in effect regardless of changes to provincial campfire restrictions.

The only current exception within the Town of Comox municipal boundaries is the designated beach fire area located east of the Point Holmes boat ramp, extending approximately 200 feet along the beach.

Beach fires are permitted only within this designated area, must be contained within a rock ring, and must be completely extinguished with water by 11:00 p.m. Goose Spit Park falls under the jurisdiction of the Comox Valley Regional District.

Within Electoral Area B (Comox Fire Protection District), campfires also remain prohibited due to current local fire restrictions bylaws.

While some regions of British Columbia have seen restrictions eased, local fire conditions and regulations continue to require a prohibition on campfires throughout the district.

Residents and visitors are asked to respect the prohibition and report any unauthorized fires to the appropriate authorities.
