The Campbell River Hospice Society continues to push for cash in its holiday fundraising campaign.
As of last week, the campaign had raised just over $43-thousand dollars of a $60-thousand goal.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Society says many people are unaware that Hospice Care reaches beyond our end-of-life services.
They also offer significant support to those grieving the loss of a loved one from ages four years old and up.
According to the Hospice Society, the community, neighbours, friends, children, and youth are currently impacted by a significant amount of traumatic loss associated with suicide or drug overdose.
Due to the crisis, the Society says it is focused on continuing its current programming while developing a robust children's and youth program to reduce the cycle of suicide.
Statistics show that a child or youth who experiences suicide within their family unit has a 50% chance of considering suicide themselves.
