Trail work at Brooklyn Creek in Comox begins on Monday.
It will involve repairing the stream bank, installing rock riffles, and building a spawning platform. Work should take a week or two.
The Town says rock riffles have several benefits for stream restoration, including channel stability, improved water quality, enhanced fish passage, and creation of fish habitat.
Rock riffles control the velocity of flow and reduce downstream sediment movement, which helps create bank stability.
Residents are being asked to be cautious and follow detour signs in the area.
