The newly formed Comox Valley Housing Authority now has its first Board of Directors in place.
The Comox Valley Regional District has appointed eight members to oversee the organization, including four regional district directors and four independent members selected from the community.
CVHA Board Members:
CVRD Directors:
- Director Will Cole-Hamilton
- Director Melanie McCollum
- Director Vickey Brown
- Director Jonathan Kerr
Independent Directors:
- Jordan Brietzke, Project Manager, Wiser Projects
- Damien Duport, Chief Operating Officer, Pacific Swell Developments
- Jerad Langille, Owner, Langille and Company
- Shane Colclough, Jordan's Principal Service Coordinator, Wachiay Friendship Centre
The Housing Authority was created to help support the development of more affordable, non-market rental homes across the Comox Valley.
Its new board will provide leadership and oversight while building partnerships with non-profit housing organizations, First Nations, governments and private developers.
“Each of these directors brings valuable expertise and a strong commitment to public service,” says CVRD Chair Will Cole-Hamilton.
“As the Comox Valley Housing Authority starts its work, their leadership and guidance will be instrumental in helping to respond to the urgent and growing need for affordable, non-market homes across our communities.”
Independent board members were selected following a call for applicants earlier this year, with the Regional District looking for a range of professional skills and community perspectives.
The board will begin orientation this fall before turning its attention to early priorities and supporting the development of new housing projects in the region.
