Courtenay residents may notice mist coming from manholes, roof vents and other drainage openings next week, but the City says there’s no cause for alarm.

Sanitary sewer fog testing will take place from Monday, September 14th, through Friday, September 18th, in the neighbourhood between Ryan Road, Island Highway 19, Muir Road and Stafford Avenue.

The testing helps crews identify issues within the sewer system. During the work, residents may see mist coming from manholes, roof vents, catch basins and downspouts.

The City says the mist is non-toxic, leaves no residue and is safe for people, pets and plants.

Anyone with a respiratory condition, or who notices vapour inside their home or business, is asked to contact Courtenay Operational Services at 250-338-1525.
