By Ken Landers

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved in local government, now is the time to make your decision, as the nomination deadline for this fall’s municipal elections is tomorrow in our listening area.

In Campbell River, candidates have until four o’clock Friday afternoon to submit their nomination packages.

The City says all required documents, signatures and information must be included, and incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to book an appointment to have their packages reviewed before submitting them. Campbell River voters will elect one mayor and six councillors for a four-year term on October 17th.

Candidates can arrange an appointment to have their paperwork reviewed by emailing elections at City of Campbell River or calling 250-286-5700.

In Courtenay and the Town of Comox, the nomination period also closes at four p.m. tomorrow. Anyone considering a run for mayor, councillor or school trustee is being reminded to make sure their package is complete and submitted before the deadline. More information is available at City of Courtenay or Town of Comox.

And in Cumberland, nominations for mayor, councillor and school trustee for Area Three will be accepted at the Village Office until four o’clock on Friday. Candidate forms, guides and additional information can be found at Village of Cumberland.
