It was a busy May long weekend for BC Highway Patrol
The Drive to Arrive campaign targeted the top high-risk driving behaviours; excessive speeding, aggressive/dangerous Driving, impaired driving, and distracted driving.
BC Highway Patrol served over 2830 violation tickets last weekend, including to speeders, street racers, and prohibited drivers. Over 80 impaired drivers were pulled from the highways.
Police say there was no shortage of excessive speeders, with more than a few vehicles impounded for a week - including a ferrari going 143 km/hour in an 80 zone, a BMW going 185 in a 100 zone, and a Dodge Charger travelling at 208 km/hour, in a 100 zone.
BC Highway Patrol Says drivers should expect enhanced enforcement operations throughout the summer season, with a focus on high-risk and impaired drivers.
