BC Hydro crews have been working overnight to restore power to parts of the province.
High winds getting most of the blame for knocking power out for 100-thousand BC Hydro customers.
Storms damaged power lines, poles, and transformers but crews have managed to get the number down to about 11,000 by this morning, mostly in the Thompson-Shuswap area.
The eastern part of Vancouver Island was placed under a special weather statement yesterday with strong winds whipping through the region. Environment Canada had warned that Wind gusts up to 80 kph were ready to down trees and lines in communities from Nanoose Bay to Courtenay and Campbell River.
The agency has also issued a special weather statement warning of heavy rain and strong wind from Saturday night to Sunday night.
