The B.C. government says tens of thousands of jobs and billions in new investment are on the way as it expands its Look West economic strategy.
An update released this week shows $88 billion worth of major projects are expected to move forward over the next three years, nearly doubling the province’s original list of priority developments.
Officials say the projects are part of a broader push to strengthen B.C.’s economy and reduce reliance on a single trading partner, while also generating long-term revenue to support public services.
“At a time when countries around the world are looking for responsibly developed resources and stable trading partners, this is British Columbia’s moment,” said Premier David Eby.
“Through our Look West plan, we’re leveraging our strengths here to get major projects built, create good jobs, and invest in skills training so people can step into these opportunities and earn bigger paycheques. This is how we create long-term prosperity to support the public services that make us all better off."
The plan, launched in November 2025, includes a goal of securing $200 billion in private-sector investment by 2035, along with increased funding for trades training to help workers fill new jobs.
The province says new projects span mining, clean energy and natural gas, with several already moving through approvals or into construction.
Clean energy is a major focus, with new wind and solar projects expected to boost electricity supply and support growing industrial demand.
Government officials say faster permitting, combined with Indigenous partnerships and environmental oversight, is helping move projects ahead more quickly.
They add the strategy is already showing results, with increased investment activity and job creation across multiple regions of the province.
The province says additional project announcements are expected in the coming months as the plan continues to roll out.
