BC’s minister of post-secondary education has stepped down.
Selina Robinson referred to Palestine, during a panel discussion last week, as a “crappy piece of land."
“The depth of the work that Minister Robinson needs to do, in order to address the harms that she’s caused, is significant,” Eby told an impromptu news conference in Vancouver on Monday.
Several mosques and islamic groups called for her resignation, saying NDP MLAs would not be permitted in their spaces until something was done.
She apologized on Friday and again yesterday, saying she was going to be taking anti-islamophobia training.
However, Premier David Eby said the remarks were incompatible with Robinson remaining in cabinet.
She will stay in the N-D-P caucus.
