Mitlenatch Park will temporarily close for pathway paving as the Strathcona Regional District completes work ahead of a ribbon-cutting celebration for the park’s newly upgraded accessible playground.
Paving is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, with construction typically taking place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The park will be closed while contractors are operating equipment on the site. Cleanup and landscaping will follow the paving work.
Visitors are asked to respect all barriers, obey posted signage and follow directions from construction crews.
The park will reopen in time for a community celebration marking the completion of its accessible playground upgrades.
The Strathcona Regional District will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, October 23, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The improvements, supported in part through funding from Tire Stewardship BC, are intended to create a more inclusive and welcoming public space where people of different ages and abilities can play, connect and enjoy their community.
The celebration will include remarks from project partners, light refreshments and an opportunity for families to explore the upgraded playground.
Mitlenatch Park is located at 145 Engles Road in Electoral Area D, with parking available along Cambie Road.
Anyone planning to attend is asked to RSVP by Friday, October 16, by calling 250-830-6718 or emailing planning@srd.ca.
