Courtenay residents looking for a new way to support their community can learn more about local opportunities during a Volunteer Information Night this afternoon.

Courtenay Recreation is hosting the free session from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. in the Lewis Meeting Room at the Lewis Centre.

The event is open to anyone aged 12 and older who is interested in helping with recreation programs, meeting new people or becoming more involved in the community.

Members of the Recreation team will be available to discuss current volunteer roles and explain how participants can get started.

Volunteering can also help people build new skills, gain valuable experience and complete school or employment-related work-experience requirements.

Advance registration is available, but it is not required and drop-ins are welcome.

For more information, visit City of Courtenay.
