Drivers travelling between Courtenay and Comox are being warned to expect significant delays along Comox Road on Tuesday.

BC Hydro crews are completing the second and final day of work along the busy corridor between the 17th Street Bridge and the Town of Comox.

Single-lane alternating traffic is in effect from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Only one direction of traffic will be permitted through sections of the work zone at a time, with traffic-control personnel managing the flow.

Major delays are expected throughout the day, particularly during the morning and afternoon commuting periods.

Motorists and anyone travelling to an appointment should allow additional time or consider using an alternate route when possible.

Drivers are also asked to reduce their speed, watch for workers and equipment and follow all posted signs and directions from traffic-control personnel.

The work and accompanying traffic restrictions are scheduled to end by 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 27.
