Comox Valley residents will have a chance to learn more about how regional services are funded and what goes into their property tax bills.
The Comox Valley Regional District is hosting a series of pop-up information booths over the next few weeks, aimed at helping electoral area residents better understand the budget and financial planning process.
CVRD staff will be on hand with interactive displays, information materials, and take-home resources explaining how property taxes support regional services and how responsibilities are shared between regional, municipal, provincial, and federal governments.
“There is a lot that happens behind-the-scenes when it comes to financial planning and how it connects to their property tax bill,” said Kelly Broughton, Manager of Financial Planning.
“These booths are the perfect opportunity for residents to drop by, ask questions, and better understand the roles and responsibilities of municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments.”
The first booth will be set up at the Comox Valley Farmers’ Market on Saturday, June 6th from 9 until 1.
That will be followed by a stop at the Courtenay Country Market on Wednesday, June 10th from 3 until 5, and another at the Royston Marine Drive boat launch on Saturday, June 13th from 9 until 11.
The CVRD is encouraging residents to stop by, learn more about regional services, and get answers to questions about their tax bills.
