Dog owners in the Comox Valley’s rural communities will soon be able to purchase or renew their pets’ annual licences for 2027.
The Comox Valley RD says the new licences will become available November 1st for residents of Electoral Areas A, B and C, excluding Denman and Hornby islands.
Annual licences are required for dogs older than six months. The cost is $10 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered and $25 for those that have not.
Anyone who purchases or renews an eligible licence by December 31st will automatically be entered into a draw for a $75 voucher from a local pet-food store. The winning licence number will be drawn on January 15th.
The Comox Valley RD says licensing provides contact information that can help animal-control officers quickly reunite lost dogs with their owners.
Licences must be purchased in person and will be available at the Comox Valley RD office, Comox Valley Aquatic Centre, Comox Valley Sports Centre and the Commissionaires office.
Residents of Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland should purchase dog licences through their respective municipality.
A complete list of locations and additional information is available at Comox Valley Regional District.
