More Information (CKCC The Raven 100.7 is not responsible for external websites)

Discover how motion, time, and visual storytelling can exist within a single image in this hands-on DIY lenticular print workshop. Using their own photography, participants will create prints that shift as the viewer moves, producing the illusion of a movement and transformation.

Inspired by Kourtney’s filmmaking practice, the workshop examines how lenticular images can evoke cinematic qualities such as rhythm, sequencing, and change. Through layering and frame-based composition, participants will create dynamic works that move between photography and animation.

No prior experience is required. Participants will learn the fundamentals of lenticular design, image preparation and assembly while developing their own visual experiments.

Participants should bring two printed photographs with a central element that undergoes a subtle change in the two photos.

About the artist:
Kourtney Jackson is a Toronto-based filmmaker and lens-based artist. Her artistic practice employs hybridized and experimental forms of storytelling that permeate interiorities of Black queer womanhood.

In lieu of “representation” as a means for legibility, her work endeavours toward a repatriation of the self through somatic, spiritual, and ecological sensibilities. Her award-winning films have screened locally and internationally at festivals including TIFF Next Wave (Toronto), BlackStar Film Festival (Philadelphia), Sundance Film Festival, Ignite x Adobe (Utah), and the Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal (Montréal).

It's from 1PM - 3PM and donations are welcome. Register online at Campbell River Art Gallery.

Thank you for your donation, all proceeds go back to the Campbell River Art Gallery which is your local Public Non-Profit Contemporary Art Gallery aiming to provide barrier-free programming to our community.
