Overnight maintenance work is underway along Balmoral Beach as crews protect a sewer pipe beneath Willemar Bluffs.
The Comox Valley Regional District began replenishing part of the beach Sunday night, with work scheduled to continue nightly through Friday morning, October 30.
Crews will operate between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. to coincide with low tides and provide access to the shoreline.
Residents and visitors may notice trucks, heavy machinery and other construction activity on the beach during those hours.
The public is asked to avoid the affected section of Balmoral Beach while crews and equipment are operating. Goose Spit Park and other nearby public areas will remain open throughout the project.
Residents living near the work site have been notified of the overnight activity.
The regional district says environmental monitors will oversee the project as crews work to protect the sewer infrastructure.
