Watch for runners this morning as the Wounded Warrior Run BC departs Campbell River on their multi-day trek down Vancouver Island.

The fundraiser began Sunday in Port Hardy and spans the length of the island in support of Wounded Warriors Canada’s mental health programs for veterans, first responders, and their families.

Participants are covering roughly 800 kilometres in distance over eight days.

They arrived in Campbell River yesterday - and a big spaghetti dinner at the Legion - and are heading south this morning toward Oyster Bay and through the Comox Valley.

Organizers say the annual run brings communities together to raise both awareness and funds for life-changing support services, urging residents to cheer on participants along the way.

The run will wrap up in Victoria this Sunday, March 1st.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
