The Strathcona Housing Alliance is hosting its inaugural Campbell River Housing Symposium, bringing together housing leaders, service providers, developers, and community partners for a day focused on solutions.
The Symposium aims to foster partnerships and spark innovative and community-based responses to housing challenges, with a particular focus on non-market, low-income/subsidized, and affordable housing.
Alliance Executive Director Stefanie Hendrickson says addressing housing needs in Campbell River and the region requires everyone at the table, adding the symposium is about moving beyond identifying challenges, and toward building partnerships that will help the community thrive.
While the event emphasizes non-market and affordable housing, private market developers are welcomed.
Many of the challenges facing non-profit and private developers, including construction costs, labour availability, and land acquisition, are shared.
The Symposium is designed to encourage cross-sector dialogue and collaboration that benefits the entire community.
