The Wounded Warrior Run BC 2026 is officially underway, with a one-day run held yesterday to kick off this year’s events on Vancouver Island.

The opening run followed the Sooke-to-Sidney route, bringing together past participants and the 2026 runners to spotlight the journey ahead and raise awareness for Canadian Veterans, First Responders, and their families.

The full Wounded Warrior Run BC is coming up later this month, running February 22 through March 1.

The eight-day relay will cover the length of Vancouver Island, from Port Hardy to Victoria, with 26 planned stops along the way where community members are encouraged to come out and show their support.

The event raises funds for Wounded Warriors Canada, which provides mental health programs for trauma-exposed professionals and their families.

Those served include members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, corrections officers, search and rescue personnel, and other public safety roles.

Organizers say every dollar raised through the Wounded Warrior Run BC stays on Vancouver Island, supporting locally delivered programs focused on education, counselling, training, resiliency, and recovery from post-trauma injuries.
