The Comox Valley Regional District will be conducting water main flushing in select neighbourhoods beginning Monday, March 16 through May 15, 2026, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Areas affected will include:
- Black Creek and Oyster Bay
- Royston
- Union Bay
- Marsden, Camco and England Road area
- Lake Trail, Salsbury, Webb, Powerhouse, Rachel, Webdon, Caron, Falcon, Crystal, and -Southridge
- Sandwick
- Little River
- Anderton and Crown Isle Area
The CVRD says water will be flushed at a high velocity through the pipes to remove minor sediment, helping to keep the drinking water system safe and clean for residents.
During flushing, sediment in the pipes may become stirred up, temporarily causing cloudiness or discolouration in the water, which may affect activities such as laundry, dishwashing and showering.
Residents are encouraged to avoid using hot water during flushing times, as discoloured or cloudy water can be drawn into hot water tanks.
Once flushing is completed, residents are advised to run their cold water tap until the water runs clear before resuming usual activities.
CVRD Manager of Water Services, Mike Herschmille, says the district understands it’s an inconvenience, but regular water main flushing is an important component to keep the water systems healthy.
