Families planning a visit to Strathcona Gardens on Friday or Saturday should check the revised public skating schedule, with several regular programs cancelled during the Campbell River Old Timers hockey tournament.
The changes affect drop-in skating on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24. Friday is also a School District 72 professional development day, with facility staff hosting a youth Pond Hockey Tournament.
On Friday, the only public drop-in skating session will be a Leisure Skate from 3 to 4:55 p.m. All other regular drop-in skating programs are cancelled for the day.
Saturday’s public skating schedule will be limited to a Leisure Skate from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The regular Pond Hockey session and Everyone Welcome Skate on Arena 2 will not take place.
Leisure Skate welcomes all ages for public skating, with no hockey permitted during the session.
Visitors should also allow for a change in how they enter the recreation complex. The facility’s front entrance is closed for construction, and people attending arena activities can reach the reception desk through the Arena 2 entrance or the Pinecrest Road access doors.
Anyone planning to attend is encouraged to review the latest program information before leaving home. Updated schedules are available at Strathcona Gardens.
