Neighbourhood planning is set to get underway in the Eaglecrest area of Qualicum Beach, as the Town begins work on a long-term plan to guide how the neighbourhood may evolve.
The planning process follows the Town’s purchase of the Eaglecrest Golf Course lands and will focus on neighbourhood-scale issues.
That includes how people move through the area, how parks and green spaces are connected, the overall look and feel of the neighbourhood, and how any future development fits with the existing community.
As part of the work, parcel-specific planning will also be carried out for Town-owned land west of Country Club Drive.
That land is expected to be sold later in 2026, and the planning process will help establish conditions and development parameters before it is offered for sale.
Community input will play a central role. Engagement planned for this year includes focused meetings with the Eaglecrest Residents’ Association in the coming weeks, followed by a public open house and an online survey scheduled for March or April.
The Town notes that some portions of the Eaglecrest lands will require longer-term planning.
Additional public engagement is expected in 2027 and beyond, particularly for lands near Highway 19A and the intersection of Eaglecrest Drive and Country Club Drive.
At the same time, the selection process for a golf course operator is continuing.
Work is underway to reconfigure and update the existing nine-hole golf course, following engagement with former Eaglecrest member groups in 2025.
