Two crews from British Columbia are now on the ground helping to battle the fires that have been scorching the Los Angeles area for a week.
One team made it out of the province on Saturday at the request of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Another team, of about two dozen, was dispatched yesterday after the US Forest Service asked for assistance.
It’s expected the BC teams will be there for at least a couple weeks, joined by firefighters from Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec.
The fires have killed at least 24 people and destroyed more than 12,000 structures over more than 155 square kilometres.
Strong winds again today are threatening what forecasters are calling “explosive fire growth.”
More than 90-thousand people in Los Angeles County were under evacuation orders as of yesterday.
