It’s the first day of summer!
While we may see some rain in our area today, the rest of the week looks like sunshine through Sunday with highs to 28.
The June solstice officially began at 2:14 our time this morning, marking the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, when Earth arrives at the point in its orbit where the North Pole is at its maximum tilt toward the Sun, resulting in the longest day and shortest night of the calendar year.
On the day of the June solstice, the Northern Hemisphere receives sunlight at the most direct angle of the year. It’s welcome news to our listening area, which saw a very rainy last couple of months.
